Botox and filler are two of the most common non-surgical aesthetic procedures. But which one is right for you? Here's what you need to know about the differences.
The two most commonly confused treatments in aesthetic medicine are botox and fillers. Although both are used for facial rejuvenation, their mechanisms of action and target areas are quite different.
Botox (Botulinum toxin) is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes muscles. It is used to correct dynamic wrinkles — lines formed by facial expressions. The effect typically lasts 3–6 months.
Fillers are typically hyaluronic acid-based gel substances. Injected into the skin, they add volume, fill sunken areas and correct deep wrinkles. The effect lasts 6–18 months depending on the type and area of filler used.
If you have dynamic wrinkles (forehead, around the eyes), botox is more appropriate. If you have volume loss and sunken areas, fillers are the better option. In many patients, both treatments can be performed in the same session.
Yes. Botox and fillers can be applied together in the same session for many patients. This combination treatment provides a multifaceted and natural rejuvenation effect, especially for patients aged 35–55.
