Recovery Process: What to Expect?
Although the recovery process after rhinoplasty varies individually, the general picture can be summarized as follows:
First 48 hours: Mild pain, swelling and bruising are expected. Head elevation (high pillow use) and cold application ease this period. Nasal tampons are usually removed within 24-48 hours.
Week 1: The cast or splint on the nose remains in place. Pressure sensation, nasal congestion and mild pain may occur during this period. At the end-of-week check, if healing is going well, the cast is removed.
Weeks 2-4: Swelling largely subsides and you can return to social life. Cosmetic products can be used. However, accessories such as protective masks and sunglasses should not yet be worn.
