Revision Rhinoplasty in Turkey: What to Know in 2026

Not happy with a previous rhinoplasty? Revision surgery is complex — but the right surgeon achieves excellent results.

What Is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty (also called secondary rhinoplasty) is performed to correct or improve results from a previous nose surgery. It is technically more challenging than a primary rhinoplasty because scar tissue is present and cartilage may have been altered or removed.

Why Do Patients Seek Revision?

  • Unsatisfactory aesthetic result (shape, size, symmetry)
  • Functional issues (difficulty breathing post-surgery)
  • Asymmetry or irregularities
  • Over-resection (too much cartilage removed)
  • Skin concerns or poor scarring
  • Why Is It More Complex?

  • Scar tissue: Makes dissection harder and changes how tissues heal
  • Cartilage availability: Original cartilage may have been used or removed
  • Altered anatomy: The nose's internal structure is different from a virgin nose
  • Cartilage Grafting in Revision Cases

When native nasal cartilage is insufficient, grafts are harvested from:

  • Ear (auricular) cartilage: Most commonly used
  • Rib cartilage: For larger grafting needs
  • Synthetic implants: In select cases
  • The Right Time for Revision

You should wait at least 12 months after your primary surgery before revision. The nose needs full time to heal and settle — what looks asymmetric at 3 months may resolve by 12 months.
