What Is Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)?
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, muscle and fat tissue from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Drooping upper eyelids and prominent under-eye bags that develop with ageing can create both aesthetic and functional problems, including a narrowed field of vision.
Op. Dr. Emine Şakalar offers personalised blepharoplasty procedures planned according to the individual's facial anatomy, giving patients a younger, fresher and more alert appearance around the eyes.
Advantages of Blepharoplasty
- Correction of drooping upper eyelids for a more open, youthful look
- Elimination of under-eye bags and puffiness
- Removal of the tired and aged appearance
- Removal of excess skin obstructing the field of vision
- Permanent and natural-looking results
- Short recovery period
Types of Surgery
Upper Eyelid Surgery
Drooping excess upper eyelid skin is removed through an incision hidden along the eyelid crease. The scar remains concealed in the fold and becomes invisible over time. In cases where vision is obstructed, this procedure serves both aesthetic and functional purposes.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
Under-eye bags and puffiness are corrected through a fine incision near the lash line or a transconjunctival approach. Fat tissue is redistributed or removed, and the skin is tightened.
Combined Blepharoplasty
Upper and lower eyelids can be corrected together in the same session. It can also be combined with procedures such as a facelift or brow lift for a comprehensive rejuvenation effect.
Who Is a Suitable Candidate?
People who appear tired due to upper eyelid drooping, under-eye bags or puffiness, those with upper eyelid excess affecting their visual field, or anyone seeking aesthetic intervention for overall facial rejuvenation may be suitable candidates for blepharoplasty. An eye health assessment and facial analysis are required prior to surgery.
