Op. Dr. Emine Şakalar
Revision rhinoplasty is a **secondary surgical procedure** for patients who experience aesthetic or functional dissatisfaction after a previous nose surgery. It is more complex than primary rhinoplasty due to scar tissue, altered anatomy and reduced cartilage reserves from the initial surgery.
Op. Dr. Emine Şakalar evaluates revision cases in detail at her Eskisehir clinic. Each revision plan is tailored to the patient's previous surgical history, current anatomical condition and expectations.
A **minimum of 12 months** is recommended before considering revision rhinoplasty. During this time, tissues stabilise, oedema fully subsides and the final result becomes apparent. Early intervention is not preferred because it requires working on unsettled tissues. Acute functional issues (e.g. septum perforation, severe breathing difficulty) are exceptions to this rule.
Review of prior surgical notes, photographic comparison and physical examination.
3D analysis, digital simulation and assessment of graft needs (septal, auricular or costal cartilage).
Extensive surgery lasting 3–5 hours under general anaesthesia. Open technique is often preferred.
Splint for 7–10 days. Swelling may last longer; final result settles between 12–18 months.
